Hi! I am Sophie! I am an autoimmune warrior, foodie, recipe developer, and photographer. I have been using the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) since 2012 to live well with my autoimmune condition and put my Hashimoto’s into remission. Since then, I have reintroduced some foods into my diet, of course, and I continue to follow a customized version of AIP adapted to my food sensitivities.
In my late thirties, I got really sick. It happened practically overnight and it turned my life upside down. Out of the blue, I started having daily panic attacks and everything went downhill very quickly from there. I developed severe insomnia and was suffering from crippling anxiety. Within the space of a month, I felt like a complete zombie.
I was desperate. I knew something was wrong with me but my lab tests didn’t turn up anything significant. But what about the swollen and painful thyroid, digestive issues, brain fog, memory loss, heart palpitations, hair loss, muscle weakness, joint pain? I was literally aching for answers.
After several months, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease attacking the thyroid gland.

How did I make this happen?
Well, the single most powerful change I made was to clean up my diet and start the Autoimmune Protocol.
Looking back, this simple step has had a profound impact on my recovery. My symptoms improved rapidly and after a year I felt like my old self again.
Since then, I have spent years following this anti-inflammatory diet to promote healing and reverse my autoimmune disease. I have been able to reintroduce into my diet some foods I had to eliminate at the beginning, such as coffee, chocolate, and some dairy. But for the most part, I keep following the AIP diet because it keeps me feeling my best and I have no desire to go back to my old ways.
Along the way, through trials and errors and a lot of experimenting, I have discovered the best practices to be successful on AIP. I’ve figured out what works, what doesn’t, and where to invest your time and resources to achieve the best results and stick to the Autoimmune Protocol.
The AIP diet has allowed me to recover fully my health and energy so I could start living again. And I know the Autoimmune Protocol can help you also regain your health and feel better!
